Ice fishing tips
Hello there, I want to give you some information on where fish might be hanging out under the ice.
Here are a list of tips that might help you land some fish out on the ice.
- Panfish can be found starting around 15" deep on weed beds, if targeting panfish never think you are to shallow
- Northern pike can be found in the shallows just outside of a productive panfish flat, typically along a drop off or a ledge.
- Search for deeper holes, this is where perch and walleye like to hang out, mainly found hugging the bottom.
- The elusive crappie, these can be found at various depths, they will hang 4 - 10 feet off of the bottom and love to hide around structure. They also like to hangout off of points in deep water.
- If you are going for trout, they usually perfer water with a current, look for them to suspend around spillways and old submerged creekbeds any where from 6 to 25 feet down.
