Ice fishing tips

Hello there, I want to give you some information on where fish might be hanging out under the ice.

Here are a list of tips that might help you land some fish out on the ice.

  1. Panfish can be found starting around 15" deep on weed beds, if targeting panfish never think you are to shallow
  2. Northern pike can be found in the shallows just outside of a productive panfish flat, typically along a drop off or a ledge.
  3. Search for deeper holes, this is where perch and walleye like to hang out, mainly found hugging the bottom.
  4. The elusive crappie, these can be found at various depths, they will hang 4 - 10 feet off of the bottom and love to hide around structure. They also like to hangout off of points in deep water.
  5. If you are going for trout, they usually perfer water with a current, look for them to suspend around spillways and old submerged creekbeds any where from 6 to 25 feet down.
